300+ Parks & Wildlife Asset Structural Inspections & Condition Assessments
Project Name: 300+ Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Asset Structural Inspections and Condition Assessments
Client: Department of Logistics & Infrastructure
Location: All Regions of the Northern Territory
Date: May 2025
Description
The project involved a comprehensive inspection of over 300 Parks and Wildlife assets, with the goal of conducting a detailed condition assessment of each asset and its individual components to determine their remaining lifespan. This assessment contributed to a comprehensive report, which includes an evaluation of the asset’s current condition, projected lifespan, and recommendations for necessary upgrades. Additionally, the report provides a cost estimate for the restoration or replacement of components to ensure the continued functionality and safety of the assets.
Issues/Challenges and how they were resolved
The inspection of over 300 Parks and Wildlife assets presented a series of logistical challenges, particularly due to the remote locations of many assets, often far from sealed roads or vehicle access. With the project being awarded ahead of the wet season, careful planning and prioritisation were essential to ensure accessibility. Some areas experienced road closures, requiring us to adapt our schedule and find alternative routes. The sheer volume of assets and the occasional inaccessibility of certain sites further complicated the task. However, through expert planning and coordination with asset contact managers, these challenges were effectively managed. Our experienced Project Management team and Site Supervisors worked tirelessly to overcome these obstacles, ensuring that we met all necessary timelines.
Success of Project
Despite the challenges posed by difficult terrain and tight schedules, the project was a success, with inspections completed on time and ahead of schedule. Our ability to prioritise assets, as provided by the client, allowed us to focus on critical areas first, delivering comprehensive reports and condition assessments promptly.
